Ocean views prevail in Palos Verdes Estates

This view restoration matter was resolved by reference to the City of Palos Verdes Estates Tree Management Policy.  

It’s one of the shortest, yet most enduring and most successful view protection policies in the State. Why? Because it assumes good faith on all sides, it’s been applied even-handedly, and it fosters community over litigation strategy. The arguments on both sides of this case were under-whelming. The ocean view sought to be restored was not grand. The contribution of the one tree to the character of the neighborhood was slight. In the end, the City Council sided with view restoration.
